Ageing goes to Australia

Aging Through a Physician's Lens travels from New York to Port Macquarie, Australia.

Jeff Levine, Isabel and Frank MoranSelections from Dr. Jeff Levine's show, Aging Through a Physician's Lens were presented at The Art of Good Health and Wellbeing International Arts and Health Conference in Port Macquarie, Australia. The five day conference was designed to advocate increased utilisation of the arts in healthcare, and brought speakers from across the globe.

Aging Through a Physician's Lens features nearly twenty years of images taken by Dr. Levine. Curated by Donna Glassford, Director of Cultural Enrichment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the images present four separate portfolios which depict aspects of human ageing: Social Networks, Self-Expression, Spirituality, and Frailty. One image from each portfolio was specially printed and framed for this Australia show.

While at the Conference, Jeff Levine met with Aboriginal artists Isabel and Frank Moran, Donghutti people and members of the Bindi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts & Cultural Centre located near Wauchope in the Central Coast region of New South Wales.

Dr. Levine is affiliated with the Geriatrics Division at St. Vincents Hospital in lower Manhattan, and holds a teaching position with New York Medical College.

His show currently appears at the New York Academy of Medicine at Fifth Avenue and 103rd Street. A reception and gallery talk will take place at the Academy on Thursday, 19 November 19 at 5.00pm. For more information on this event visit The New York Academy of Medicine website.
