2012 Archibald Portrait Prize entry of Margret Meagher by artist Kerry Smith-Taughkin

Artist Kerry Smith-Taughkin with her portrait oif Margret MeagherKerry's painting of Margret has been selected for the 2012 Victorian Salon des Refuses - Hidden Faces of the Archibald .

18 June - 16 August 2012.
The Hilton, 2 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf, Melbourne.

The Exhibition follows in the tradition of the French Impressionists of the 1860s (Cezanne, Pissarro, Whistler, etc) who held a break-away exhibition after Manet's painting was rejected by the French Academy. The 2012 Exhibition displays a diverse, experimental and exciting range of portraits by Victorian artists, not selected for the national Archibald Prize, but whose work deserves to be seen. Kerry is excited about being selected. "It was an honour to paint Margret Meagher. My aim was to represent her "energy" and the symbols throughout the work relate to Margret's research, advocacy, policy making and badges worn at Arts and Health Australia's annual international conferences."

The Hilton Exhibition is free and open all hours to the public.

There is an accommodation package prize for 1 lucky couple drawn from those who vote for the "People's Choice Award".  (Ask at reception for voting slips).
